Bio
Ashlenn uses an integration of exposure and response prevention (ERP), hypnotherapy, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) to help you break free from factors keeping you stuck so you can move towards the life you really want. She uses these evidence-based treatment modalities to equip you with the skills needed to break ineffective behaviors sabotaging you from experiencing your best life and help you know you are resilient and can handle what life throws at you. Her passion is to see you break free from thoughts, actions, and emotions that keep you from experiencing your full potential. Ashlenn uses a personable, friendly, and nonjudgmental approach to therapy.
Dr. Ashlenn Von Wiegand became interested in therapy after an overseas mission trip working with homeless heroin addicts. She proceeded to get her undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of Georgia. She then got her master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling and her doctorate in Advanced Studies in Human Behavior from Capella University. Ashlenn has worked in a variety of agencies where she has focused her attention on individual, group, and family therapy. She has had the opportunity to work in a wilderness program, an outpatient court mandated program, a crisis stabilization hospital, a residential treatment facility, and private practice. Because she has worked in so many different types of places, she is comfortable and equipped to work with all ages and all issues. Ashlenn has also facilitated a number of groups that include and are not limited to substance abuse, family violence intervention, anger management, values clarification, parenting skills, and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) skills groups. She also facilitates a number of consultation teams for fellow therapists as well as leads trainings on the treatment modalities she uses to help other therapists grow as clinicians.
When Ashlenn is not doing therapy, she enjoys spending time with family, playing with her black lab named Maddox, and sneaking in unsolicited squeezes with her cat Squeaks. She also loves doing anything creative whether that be painting, dancing, photography, wood-working, sewing, hand designing SVGs, and using her Cricut to make lots of fun projects. Her and her husband Hamilton enjoy doing anything outdoorsy together. They can be spotted around a campfire, hiking in the woods, biking, and doing yoga in the great outdoors.
